What would Iqbal ask today?
This year marks the 149th birth anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal. In his children's prayer, he wished that every young life would be drawn to "the candle of knowledge", just as a moth is drawn to light. Iqbal was a lifelong inquirer, the kind of learner the IB learner profile describes: curious, questioning and in love with learning.
If Iqbal walked into a classroom today, he would not hand our children answers. He would ask them questions. What do you wonder about? What kind of person do you want to become? How will you bring light to others?
This Iqbal Day, we invite families to read one of his poems together and ask your child, "What would you love to learn next?"
With gratitude to Allama Iqbal.
